America Young is an award winning director known for her layered approach to storytelling, using genre, action and comedy to explore complex issues. Currently working in Film, TV and Video Games as a Director and stunt coordinator, she is story driven in all things. Directing in several mediums has helped her develop a groundbreaking and unique perspective. Her first feature is a pop-culture comedy called “The Concessionaires Must Die!!”, executive produced by Stan Lee. (www.cmdthemovie.com) The film had it’s SOLD OUT World Premiere, opening weekend at The Palm Springs Film Festival and is now available on Itunes and other VOD platforms. She just directed the Motion Capture and voice over for a major video franchise. She has stunt coordinated for years for several projects from content for Mortal Kombat 11 to music videos for Katy Perry to Kanye and several features.
She directed the series “Whatta Lark”, that pairs a quiet, introverted woman with the fiercest and most loveliest of Drag Queens. The show can be watched on Amazon Prime and is being developed into a feature. Her film “Protectress”, Xena inspired Fantasy, winner of Best Action, Best Director and Best Fantasy so far on the festival circuit, is also being developed into a feature. Having worked with Mattel for 5 years to help rebrand Barbie, America just wrapped on directing the 4th season of the critically acclaimed animated series Barbie Vlogger - which has 5.8 million subscribers. She is also attached to direct two features additional features, one a satirical, genre, action comedy called “Smash Girl” about a punk girl band with superpowers and a heart felt, brilliantly subtle drama, “It’s Not Me”. She is a proud founder on The Chimaera Project, a non-profit which gives opportunities to women in the media arts (www.chimaeraproject.org). When America’s not kicking the crap out of Super-Heroes that support the Superhuman Registration Act, jumping off buildings, teaching actors how to fight or setting herself on fire, she enjoys telling stories, sipping herbal tea and sharpening her pair of Sai. |
